Even when Richard Mönninghoff founded his mining machinery company in Bochum in 1916, he was already working on drive technology that had to be robust and reliable enough to withstand the extreme stresses of underground mining. We, his successors, have carried on this commitment to functionality and precision: through the development of high-precision switchable clutches, versatile linear drives, sensitive overload systems and optimised shaft connections, we are now a leading international technology partner.

We owe our company’s success not least to our customers’ demand for solutions to highly complex problems. The aim of our development work is to support their technological progress in an innovative way. The more intensive the exchange of ideas and dialogue with our customers’ design engineers, the more successfully we achieve this.

Our product is our expertise – and we supply the hardware as well. Consequently, detailed, customer-specific solutions lead to a wide variety of variants, which can only be manufactured efficiently using modern and flexible machinery. In this context, we do not view quality as merely a technical matter, but as a passion for perfection.

In fact, however, it is the flexibility, creativity and commitment of our staff that define our competitiveness. It is only with a workforce that, drawing on our tradition, always finds the will and strength to venture into new and unfamiliar territory that Mönninghoff succeeds in weathering the storm of rapid structural change. In doing so, we remain committed to our regional identity: even after a hundred years, Germany remains a future-proof production location for us as a family-run business.

The company moves into a new building

As our site in Bochum has evolved from the outskirts to the city centre over the last 100 years, further growth at this location was no longer possible. However, as we firmly believe in Germany as a manufacturing location and feel a strong connection to the Ruhr region – and above all to our employees – leaving the city of Bochum was out of the question.

Although the search for a suitable piece of land took several decades, the planning phase and the subsequent construction of the new building went smoothly. So, in autumn 2021, we left our old company premises behind and relocated the entire business to our new site in Bochum Sevinghausen.
